• Together since 1993, Hair of The Dog is one of the world's foremost Celtic bands. They've released 10 CDs including, "Release The Hounds", "Gaelic Bark", "Collection", "The Parting Glass", "Let It Flow", "Donegal" and "Liam Left The Lights On Again". In May 2012, The Irish Echo stated, "Liam Left The Lights On Again…in it's entirety is simply a delight to listen to" and in January 2008, the Kingston, New York Freeman Times declared, "Hair Of The Dog plays with a cohesive oneness that most bands never get. They are a regional music treasure. "The Dog was also mentioned in Billboard Magazine as one of Irish Music’s biggest sellers. Their song “One Sunday Morning” was featured on the 2003 Colleen Records compilation CD “Songs of Irish Freedom Vol. 3”. In 2005 they appeared on “One Child At Time”, a charity compilation that also included U2, James Taylor, The Chieftains and Carly Simon. Hair Of The Dog has repeatedly been named “Best Band” since the late 1990’s, by the Northeast’s top regional newspapers and magazines.

Based in Upstate New York, Hair Of The Dog is Rick Bedrosian (guitar and vocals), Larry Packer (fiddle), Dan Samson (bass and vocals) and Gene Garone (drums and vocals). The band members boast extensive resumes: Founder Rick Bedrosian has performed and/or recorded with Stevie Ray Vaughan, Marshall Crenshaw, Gene Clark of The Byrds, John Stewart of The Kingston Trio, Marshall Chapman, Blackhawk and the Outlaws. From 2012-2019, Rick was “George Harrison” in Hey Jude, a successful Beatlemania stage show.

Fiddler Larry Packer was lead guitarist of Sha Na Na (as seen in the concert documentary, “Festival Express”), had a top ten hit (Good Old Rock and Roll) with a Jimi Hendrix produced band called Cat Mother and the All Night News Boys and appeared with The Band in Martin Scorsese’s “The Last Waltz”. Larry also guested on NBC’s Saturday Night Live’s third episode which originally aired October 25th, 1975. Packer’s name appears on albums and playbills with countless other major acts including The Band (“Islands” & “High on the Hog”), Hall and Oates (“Abandoned Luncheonette”), Lou Reed, Jeffrey Gaines, Phoebe Snow, Jerry Jeff Walker, Peter Rowan, Harry Belafonte, David Bromberg, Maria Muldaur and the New York Rock Ensemble. Larry was inducted into the New York State Blues Hall of Fame in 2016.

On bass and vocals is Dan Samson. In addition, Dan has also recorded with Loni Richards, Willie Pierce and the Joey Thomas bands. He’s also performed with Phil Guy and toured with Big Bill Morganfield. Dan currently sings with the Mendelssohn Club of Albany, NY and is the Music Director for the Journey UCC Church.

Drummer/ vocalist Gene Garone has spent 52 years loving music, acquiring knowledge and playing with the energy of a 22 year old. Gene has been ubiquitous in the Northeast, beating a savage tattoo with dozens of bands including Doc Scanlon’s Rhythm Boys, Brass-O-Mania, Mother Goose Jazz Band, Joey Thomas Big Band, The Roasters, CD3, Cole Broderick Quartet, Hair Of The Dog (since 2017) and more, performing at many big venues such as Proctor’s Theater, Cohoes Music Hall and the Palace Theater. We do not recommend this program for children under the age of 5 due to the nature of needing to be able to quietly sit still in this enclosed area during the program, as the shape of the StarLab amplifies all sounds inside. Please note that attendees will need to crawl through a 3’ high tunnel to get into the planetarium, and seating is on pads on the floor on the inside.

Sponsored by Tannery Pond Center!!
